a theft from those who hunger and are not fed,
those who are cold and are not clothed.
This world in arms is not spending money alone.
It is spending the sweat of its laborers,
the genius of its scientists,
the hopes of its children.
This is not a way of life at all in any true sense.
Under the clouds of war,
it is humanity hanging on a cross of iron.

Invisible Pink Unicorns are beings ofawesome mystical power. We know this
because they manage to be invisible
and pink at the same time.
Like all religions, the Faith of the
Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon
both logic and faith.
We have faith that they are pink;
we logically know that they are invisible
because we can't see them.

Hey Joe, quit standing around waiting for the wind to blow. Hook up those horses man, lets go!
nice collection!
Most of these men faced censorship in their time. Even today, censorship is becoming America's favorite past-time. The US gov't (and their corporate friends), already place protesters in fenced-in cages, ban books like America Deceived (book) from Wikipedia, Amazon and Facebook, and shut down Ron Paul. Free Speech forever. Great collection of quotes.
Fuck Noam Chomsky!
the wise will forgive even the sins of gods.
I like Chomsky, mostly.
However, Orson Scott Card is a Mormon mouthpiece. You could have done without his comment, considering that he's never heeded it.

I'll hold him :)
Don't forget Marcus Aurelius, emperor of Rome and great Stoic:
"You will soon die and you are not yet simple, nor free from perturbations and the dread of being hurt by external things, nor are you kindly disposed to all, nor do you yet see that wisdom consists only in being just."
"...What ever this is that I am is a little flesh, breath and the ruling part.."
@ HemlockMan
Yeah, I went back and forth about Orsen Scott Card, but in the end I decided that the content of the quote was worth it, even though I'm not a fan of his politics or religion (I loved Ender's Game though). I quoted Nixon and Hitler too, but I kept them. There are some disputed quotes in here as well, but again, if the content was right, I used it.
I wonder what they think now?

Wow... thanks for these great quotes. I have tons of freedom quotes I have compiled over the years. How about this one by Will and Ariel Durant,
“Freedom and equality are sworn and everlasting enemies, and when one prevails the other dies.”
Most of these quotes were never spoken by the sources stated. Sorry - you fail.
wow, instead of posting an original thought you post many quotes including those from such brilliant minds as Courtney Love, most of which are credited to the wrong person or misquoted all together...brilliant
The puny minds of the real pestulance, get caught in the trap of who said what in an effort to destroy the message.
@ rjman
Hmmm, I notice that you didn't specify any quote.
Wonder why that is?

"most of which are credited to the wrong person or misquoted all together"
I notice that you failed to point out a single incorrect quote.
Wonder why that is?
Thank you so much for compiling this. Dont let the naysayers discourage you, you have stirred something within me and for that I am grateful.
I love these quotes. They bring a realization that the world will make progress despite the ridiculousness of most establishments.
To be a noble lenient being is to from a make of openness to the mankind, an gift to trusteeship undeterminable things beyond your own manage, that can take you to be shattered in hugely extreme circumstances as which you were not to blame. That says something remarkably weighty thither the get of the honest compulsion: that it is based on a trust in the unpredictable and on a willingness to be exposed; it's based on being more like a shop than like a sparkler, something somewhat fragile, but whose mere particular attractiveness is inseparable from that fragility.

I like this one but it needs revision.
